Simple Spring Table

Even though it is cold & rainy in Georgia, I cannot wait for spring weather and decor! I have been a little lazy this winter and did not do a Valentine's table so my dining room was in dire need of a change. I already had an idea of what I wanted to do next with my table after seeing it done at an antique store a few years ago. I'm keeping the table simple for now so it's easy for me to easily change the design throughout the season.

The first thing I did was clear everything off the table to get a clean slate. I chose to use a burlap table runner for this season. One of my friends gave me the burlap when we cleaned up from her wedding but I have seen a similar product at Hobby Lobby. I also used moss green chicken wire ribbon down the middle of the table for color and texture contrast. I bent the ribbon so it makes a slight wave. For the centerpiece I used a tall birdcage with a birds nest and a sprig of greenery inside. Flanking it are candles/candle holders. I will likely change up the centerpiece but for now it will work!

For the place settings, I like to keep it pretty simple so that my table doesn't look jumbled. I used galvanized metal plate chargers, a dinner plate, salad plate, cloth napkin and the cutie bird nests I made! Initially, I wanted to put the nest inside of the bowl and have the napkin under the salad plate but I wasn't a big fan when I tried it so I just played around with it a little more. Overall, I am pleased with how they turned out.

A few other things you could try: Using a placemat instead of a charger. I don't like having a runner and placemats so I opted for the chargers. I did not put silverware out because my cat thinks they are his toys and knocks them on the floor, but if you don't have crazy animals that is a viable option! You could also put the napkin in a ring on top of the plate. If you had patterned salad plates, those would be cute on top of the dinner plate with a napkin between the two plates. Using what you already have in a new way is my advice! I only buy new things if I have tried and am not satisfied with how the decor turned out.

If you have questions, feel free to leave a comment or send a message! Happy decorating, friends!
